- Reading - This week we began reading the book Where the red Fern Grows. It is a heartwarming story about a young boys who wants two coon hound pups. The story details how the boy's determination, hard work and faith allows this to happen. It goes on to tell about his adventures. Please ask your children to tell you about the story. Students will be keeping a response journal in which they answer questions, write summaries and practice other skills they have learned this year during reading instruction. Each day we read a chapter, discuss the theme and use other reading strategies while discussing. The children are loving this story. It has always been a class favorite.
- Math - This week in math we continued to practice multiplication of large numbers (four digit by three digit). Please practice multiplication facts with you children at home. Know their facts will help when multiplying and dividing. Students are also learning to use area models. We will continue to practice these skills next week.
- Social Studies - We just finished chapter five and the test will be tomorrow. Thank you for studying with your child. The more they study the better chance they have of getting a passing grade.
- Testing - We have finished the mid-year Dibels Reading Assessment this week. Next week students will be taking the mid-year Dibels Math Assessment.
- Jump Rope for heart forms went home this week. Please consider helping Miss Souza raise money for such an important cause.
