Weekly News - Update

• One week of NECAP's down. Phew! I am proud of the hard work all students in room 19 showed. Hopefully the results will show how much effort they put into the test. Next week students will be assessed in the area of Math. Please talk to your children about the following: Tell them to make sure: 1.) When answering the math questions please read the questions carefully. 2.) Highlight or underline what the question is asking. 3.) Restate the question to themselves. 4.) Write their answers neatly and explain in writing how they got their answers. Practice pages will come home to practice.
• Friday Folders went home with students today. Please review papers, grades and comments. Also read the left hand side which contains the criteria used to grade students. Pay particular attention to the class work comments. Please sign and return Friday Folders to school on Monday.
• Map projects are due Monday, October 7th.
• Literacy will continue this week and students having begun to write personal narratives. They have also learned how to peer conference and give classmates ideas and suggestions to improve writing skills.
• Math - Our math program continues to be a challenge for many students. They are learning the vocabulary, but the concepts are difficult. Please encourage your children to focus during the lesson, try to do their best, and ask questions when they don't understand a topic.
