Weekly News - Update

  • This week I attended a two day workshop on Linguistics. This workshop is to help students within the accuracy group improve the amount of words they read accurately per minute. By improving in the area of accuracy students fluency rate should also improve. We will be using the information I learned during our Reading Intervention time daily. More information to follow. I will also be sending home activities for students to work on at home.
  • In the next two weeks we should be finishing our Math unit on division of larger numbers. Our next Unit will cover fractions. Students will learn to add, subtract, multiply and divide fractions. I will keep you posted as we begin our lessons.
  • In Reading we have been working Persuasive Writing Essays. Students have been brainstorming and filling out graphic organizers in order to write a persuasive essay. Practicing this skill will help students complete their March at home project.
  • Please have your children look in the left hand column of this blog and practice the PARCC examples. Our class will be taking the PARCC field test in the area of language Arts April 2nd, 3rd and 4th.
As always thank you for your support from the home front. I truly appreciate all your help and dedication into your child's learning. Enjoy the weekend!
