Weekly News - Updaye

  • Last week students took the Reading/Language Arts PARCC assessments online using laptops in the library. Most of the students thought the tests were interesting. I'm glad they got to experience what will take place next year when the testing begins for all students.
  • In Science students are finishing up their natural disaster charts. They will be presenting them the end of next week.
  • In Social Studies students are reading about events leading up to the American Revolution.
  • In Math lessons continue to involve adding and subtracting fractions using multiple methods. We should finish up module 3 next week. After vacation we will begin with module 4 and it involves multiplying and dividing fractions. More information to come in the next Blog.
  • This week students shared their Persuasive projects. I was very impressed with their creativity and persuasive essays. Their classmates were very interested in the variety of projects and many of them wished they were real. Inventions included: washer/dryer one piece unit (You could wash your clothes and they slide down into the dryer), fast car 5000, spray-on clothes, step cleaner, socks with a warmer and a massager built in, just to name a few. I was equally impressed with their commercials. They all did a great job showing and/or acting out their commercials.
As always thank you for your support from the home front. Enjoy the warm weather!
