Weekly News - Update

• Next Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday students will be taking the filed test for PARCC. Please make sure your children get to school on time and have a good night's sleep. The PARCC test will take place in the library using laptops.  Students were taught how to navigate the test last week. We will practicing again tomorrow in preparation for next weeks test. They are very exciting about working on the laptops. It will also give them a sneak preview of what's to come when they have to take the actual PARCC test in 6th grade.
• In Reading this week student's finished working on their persuasive essays. They worked hard using their graphic organizers to help them develop their thesis statement, reasons and conclusion. Students also read a story about Hattie's Birthday Box.
• In Social Studies this week students will be taking the test for chapter 7. Chapter 8 begins a unit about the Revolutionary War. More information to follow.
• Please send in your box tops. The class the collects the most box tops will win a pizza party given by the PTA. Please help our class win this party and also help the school earn technology for Kent Heights.
• Next week is the last week for Pennies for Patients. Please consider sending in change, dollars or a check for this fundraiser. All monies collected will be given to Blood cancer research.
